A Day in the Life of a Youth Services Coordinator

Many might ask, what exactly do you do as the youth services coordinator for the Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA). Well, it all depends on the day.

Today for instance I...

...met with the youth services coordinator at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and discussed opportunities to collaborate.

...then I came back to the office and checked my emails since I went directly to my meeting from home instead of coming to the office.

...then I updated some daily logs regarding my hours and the libraries I have visited in the last few weeks.

...next I created a badge on Credly to be distributed to librarians who attend the upcoming child development trainings. I also created the badge requirements that librarians will need to complete to earn the badge.

...then I took a walk to the West End library to return my books and pick up a hold.

...I ate lunch while I updated all of the social networks for RC (reading creature) who is the mascot for ACLA Youth Services and talked with my coworkers about moving forward with some website and marketing initiatives.

...I started the afternoon by creating some groundwork for upcoming renovations to the youth services website.

...I had another meeting with a contact from the AIU to discuss some partnership projects with have coming up this year and next.

...I scheduled a meeting and created the agenda for the county youth services meeting.

...I sent a lot of emails regarding upcoming projects and meetings and some paperwork items.

Today was taken up a lot by my two meetings and will be similar tomorrow. It's all in a day's work.
